SPONSORS AND SUPPORTERS

We are grateful to the organisations that provide ongoing support be that through funding or offering advice, training, workshops, and advice.

VOLUNTEER

Many young people depend on us for their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, not just through the activities we provide but also the advice and support we offer that they may not receive elsewhere. By providing a diverse programme of activities, underpinned by youth work values and the youth work curriculum, our aim is to reach as many young people as we can supporting them on their developmental journeys.

Volunteers have been, and continue to be, a crucial part of the staffing of both our Senior and Junior Club sessions. Our volunteers undertake a variety of tasks in delivering youth work so we welcome people from all backgrounds, skills and experience. We offer on the job training to all our volunteers, to help them handle youth issues sensitively and appropriately and give young people the support they need. Working with young people is extremely rewarding, not only for the difference you can make to their lives but also the insights and learning experiences that you’ll gain.

JOIN THE ADVISORY GROUP

Wolvercote Young People’s Club (WYPC) has been delivering youth services for over 75 years.

We have a growing Advisory Group consisting of people who bring specialist knowledge, experience, and skills to feed into our work.

Monitoring the quality of our work, our Trustees are appointed annually at our AGM and consist of the Chair and Interim Treasurer, as well as a quorate of members. The Trustees are supported by our Administrator who acts as secretary to meetings.

If you feel you have the skills and talents to help us flourish, do get in touch. We’re currently looking for financial and HR support in particular.

DONATE

Funding is vital to the services we provide to our young people and the many groups who also use our facilities. Since the County Council’s financial cutbacks to youth services in 2010, we rely even more on fundraising, grants and donations to secure our future and ensure we are sustainable.

We are extremely grateful to those who share our vision and mission, and are in a position to give financially. Past donations have funded fantastic projects including:

·         Building a dedicated IT room and games room

·         Installation of a football court

·         Extensions that doubled the size of the original building and updated facilities

·         A new minibus

We also maximise the use of our building and provide a venue for a variety of groups. On site we permanently host the charity Together with Migrant Children, and regular hirers include Tiger Martial Arts and Autism Family Support Oxfordshire. Birthday parties often make up our weekend bookings, and we also play host to drumming and Tai Chi.

The work we undertake brings communities together and we strive to create an inclusive environment where all young people are offered the same opportunities regardless of postcode, money, or academic ability. We teach young people to feel proud of who they are and where they have come from but not to the exclusion or detriment of others. If you see the value in the services we provide and are able to, then please help us. Every donation makes a difference.

CORPORATE SUPPORT

If you’re a business looking to support local youth services then we have several ways that you could do this:

  • fundraise on behalf of WYPC
  • donate time to volunteering at the Club
  • sponsor a specific project or initiative

For more information, email our Charity Manager, Roy Peach, and we’ll talk through how together, you can help Wolvercote become bigger and better.
